The Martin Miller’s Flowing Hearts is a fabulous concoction to impress your date with this Valentine’s Day.

This Valentine’s Day, much of the northeast (also, entire country) is getting snowed-in. So, for those of you who are looking to do something special for your sweetheart in the comfort of your own place, we’ve got you covered with elegant aphrodisiac cocktails and deserts. Looking to venture outside? We’re dipping into our trove of travel PR treasures to offer our favorite suggestions for romantic spots lined up where you should definitely head for a cocktail or dinner (you haven’t made a reservation yet?!).

Hearts on Fire

This alluring craft cocktail is way easier to make than it looks. Whip up the Flowing Hearts like a mixologist with this easy, fresh recipe from Martin Miller’s Gin. Our favorite bit? Not only does it look the part, it does the trick. Pomegranates are one of the oldest known aphrodisiacs. Some historians have argued the pomegranate, not the apple, was the forbidden fruit of the Bible. Go ahead, give it a go!

Flowing Hearts

2 Bar Spoons of Pomegranate Arils (Seeds)

1/2 Pint Glass of Mint Leaves with Sprigs

1 1/2 oz. Martin Miller’s Gin

3/4 oz. Simple Syrup

3/4 oz. Lemon Juice

Cocktail Technique: First, muddle the mint, then add pomegranate arils and lightly press down with your muddler so you are not completely breaking the seed. Shake with Ice. Double strain over fresh ice and garnish with Pomegranate Arils.

Fresh Figs are Fun

You will surely impress your date if you whip up this lovely dessertGourmet’s Fresh Fig Tart with Rosemary Cornmeal Crust and Lemon Mascarpone Cream is a perfect pairing with the delicious Flowing Hearts cocktail. Figs are another ancient aphrodisiac (their leaves even covered up Adam and Eve!).

New York’s Sexiest Date Spots

Nothing says romance like Bemelman’s Bar at the Carlyle Hotel. This spot is classic old New York and the whimsical murals transport you to a different age. The Art Deco furnishings are unmatched: check out the 24-karat gold leafed ceiling. If you can, pick a booth bar spot so you can both take in prime people watching and sit side-by-side. This is definitely a warm spot for a cold night. There’s a cover charge after 9:30 PM when the lovely jazz trio begins, so make sure you come prepared. Trust us, it’s worth it.

Another sexy spot is the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This chic Brooklyn hotspot is elegant and perfect for a date. The restaurant, Reynaud’s, is acclaimed by many critics and the food is terrific. If you are looking for somewhere to gaze at the city (and perhaps the stars) check out the sixth floor Ides. The Ides at the Wythe Hotel is a super-sexy spot and rooftop enclave.

In the summertime, expect to see a bustling crowd of attractive, chic Brooklynites milling about the elegant rooftop with delicious cocktails. Inside, the lighting is low, the music fun, and the cocktails exhilarating. Try the Wythe’s signature Dark & Stormy – it’s worth the trek over the bridge.
