MOMA Sculpture Garden

The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden at the MOMA, one of our favorite outdoor exhibits for spring and summer.

Now that spring has arrived, its peak season in New York City, as tourists and locals alike flock to enjoy the nice weather and all the city has to offer. There is never a shortage of activities, sights, and culture in New York so it can be hard to find focus amongst the chaos. Fortunately, as an NYC PR firm we have decades of experience that enable us to pick out the truly unique attractions.

But first, let us introduce you to Museum Mile – a stretch of eclectic museums along Fifth Avenue with options that will get you outdoors!

A Garden of Art

To some, museums may only be thought of as places that house art, but in New York they boast history, architecture, events and some of the most fun and interesting places to experience the New York outdoors. The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) has encapsulated the harmony amongst art and the social New York atmosphere with their Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden.

The Sculpture Garden, which was designed by architect Phillip Johnson and recently re-designed in 2004 by architect Yoshio Taniguchi, delivers a modernist public space for tourists and New Yorkers alike to explore and socialize in an artistic outdoor terrain. The MOMA isn’t the only museum with an attractive outdoor space.

A Garden with a View

If you want a spectacular view of Manhattan you don’t have to seek it out in tourist traps like the Empire State Building or the Rockefeller Center. The Metropolitan Museum of Art has presented New York with not only a state of the art museum but also the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Roof Garden, featuring panoramic views of the city. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet informal, attracting a diverse range of attendees, including families and children.

Special outdoor exhibits, events, and concerts are hosted by various museums on Museum Mile throughout the warm seasons. So if you are visiting New York for the first time or have lived here for 30 years, a day spent discovering the famous museums is not necessarily a day spent indoors. Not only can one experience the museum’s outdoor spaces but the walk between each museum takes you along picturesque Central Park. Enjoy the imaginative NYC open-air landscape!
