Less than two hours from NYC we’ve discovered a hideaway from the chaos of Manhattan that a super model (she shall remain nameless), who recently visited said “This place is so fabulous I want to keep it a secret.”

As head of boutique PR agency that specializes in luxury travel public relations and having represented other magnificent exclusive properties that are also available like Necker Island in the B.V.I. and having stayed at The Point on Upper Saranac Lake, I can tell you that Old Stone Farm is one place you should visit, sooner rather than later.

Just Opened: Embodies the Vision of Sherry Kahn

What is great about Old Stone Farm, which has just opened, is that you feel that you’re staying at a friend or relation’s private estate. Tucked away on the lush countryside of Rhinebeck, NY on 236 acres, Old Stone Farm is a one-of-a-kind property at which few have had the privilege of staying. With 22 exquisite horses grazing on the meadows and room for many more in the stables and paddocks, Old Stone Farm is a peaceful oasis.

On my first evening, I sat out on the porch and watched as dusk settled over the meadows with the owner, Sherry Kahn, as dinner was prepared by chef Matt Gaines. Sherry asked me a question that no one else has ever asked me in my 35 plus years in PR: “How did you get in to this field?” As her penetrating but loving eyes locked on mine I told her my story and then when she started telling me hers I saw a white energy field surround her head. I knew I had found a soul sister.

The Yoga Barn at Old Stone Farm

The stunning 1000 square foot renovated barn that holds the classes and workshops at Old Stone Farm.

This is a very real woman with a very real passion for the healing power of nature as a yoga teacher. Two of our account executives, Katrina Leo and Maggie Jones, took her yoga class in the yoga barn the next morning and commented that it was so rare to have such an intimate experience with the owner of an inn.

There are miles of hiking trails dotted with marshlands and pines and resplendent with birdlife. I took a dawn walk after a wonderful night’s sleep in my guestroom. As every room has been personally decorated by Sherry, mine was completely distinctive.

Unplugging: The Greatest!

What I loved was I left my IPhone and IPad at home and there was only a landline in the pantry outside my door so I didn’t speak to anybody for 36 hours. (Although Katrina and Maggie were online with high-speed WiFi that is accessible everywhere on the property.) I was blissfully unplugged.

This coming weekend, on the summer solstice when the Sun is in Cancer, Demitra Vassiliadis, a well-regarded astrologer from NYC, will be doing a workshop. If you are interested in participating and booking a reservation call 845-876-3977 for more information.

Not to worry, Demetra will be back later this summer. Old Stone Farm has an abundance of workshops scheduled so make sure to check their website at www.oldstonefarm.com. Rooms start at $395 and includes three fabulous meals by Matt.
