With what seemed like never-ending piles of snow finally melting on New York City’s streets, we’re once again beginning to feel the welcomed warmth of spring within reach. As a travel PR agency based in New York City, we too felt the pangs of winter’s aggression beginning to eat away at us even just a week ago.

Like all New Yorkers and residents of other chilly regions that seemed caught in an icy grasp, we are relieved and inspired by the art of travel. Particularly in this social media age, we are propelled forward by a continuous stream of news, feature articles, broadcast reports and perhaps, most importantly, the images that bring our dream destinations to life and influence our choices.

As a public relations professional specializing in luxury boutique hotels, it is essential that I guide my clients in developing and implementing social media programs that complement and enhance the media relations portion of each campaign. Photos add life to the words I pitch to press and draw in prospective travelers reading about our client’s on the glossy pages of such publications as Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure. But social media offers the great opportunity to reach an even broader audience.

I recently spent a week on the stunning and pristine Samana peninsula, where our boutique agency represents two Small Luxury Hotels, Sublime Samana Hotel & Residences and Bannister Hotel. Taking the opportunity to build upon our current image library, adding fun, relatable and inspiring images from my own personal experiences, I made sure to take tons of photos. These images, capturing the reality of a group experience on site, will be used to continue to build both hotel’s social media following over the coming months.

Journalists traveling with me remarked on the power of the images – a sampling of which I have shared below – asking even if those photos could be used in their feature articles. The answer of course, is always yes, as I hope both the media and the reader will continue to find inspiration in the images of my own travels, propelling the hotel’s media exposure and following even further. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the journey. May you find inspiration, remember to build your photo library and encourage your guests to tag your property in their travel photos to propel your campaign ever forward!
